We aim to provide a 12-month Basic English Language Course for 80 underprivileged children living in the slum areas of Mirpur 12 slum and Mohakhali slum, helping them build essential language skills and create better opportunities for their future. Many of these children and young individuals, aged between 4 to 19 years, grow up without access to quality education or the support needed to develop basic English skills, which often holds them back in school, work, and everyday communication. This initiative is designed to change that by offering them a chance to learn, grow, and gain confidence in a supportive environment.
The course will focus on building strong foundations in reading, grammar, and speaking. The classes will be held online coordinated by our volunteers. They will maintain the classrom environment and help the instructors to properly deliver the classes.
Course Structure
The course will be conducted over a period of 12 months facilitated by trained instructors. Based on the students’ performance, they’ll move along the basic, advanced, and spoken groups-
Class Frequency: 2 days per week
Class Duration: 1–1.5 hours per session
Class Mode: Online
To make learning effective and enjoyable, participants will be grouped based on their age and ability levels. Learning materials will be designed to suit different age groups, ensuring accessibility for both young children and older participants. Continuous monitoring and simple evaluation techniques, such as quizzes, speaking assessments, and classroom participation will be used to track progress and provide personalized support where needed.
Beyond academic learning, this initiative aims to empower participants by enhancing their confidence, communication abilities, and overall personal development. By equipping children and youth with basic English skills, the project will improve their readiness for formal education, vocational opportunities, and future employment prospects. It will also contribute to reducing educational inequality within marginalized communities.
In conclusion, this Basic English Language Course represents a meaningful step toward creating equal learning opportunities for underprivileged children and youth. By focusing on practical language skills and long-term development, the project aims to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of participants and support their journey toward a more secure and promising future.
