Eye Camp- Cataract Surgery

The WHO estimates that in 2023, one billion people have vision impairments that could have been prevented with prompt medical attention. A study indicates that cataracts likely cause more than 60% of blindness in Bangladesh. A large number of impoverished individuals living in rural areas are unable to receive cataract treatment or have their eyes examined because of the expense involved or a simple lack of knowledge.

An organization, Mahadan Union Forum, is hoping to provide these patients with appropriate cataract treatment through our Eye Camp. In Jamalpur, Bangladesh, a team of medical professionals will operate on thirty to thirty-five patients to remove cataracts. By raising awareness, this will benefit not only the patients but also those who are susceptible to cataracts.

We hope to help them in this great initiative as much as we can. As it is a health cause, and it will help these patients to make their lives better, we want to use a part of the amount from our Zakat Fund. However, as it is a huge endeavour, the amount we have in our Zakat Fund will not be sufficient. Hence, we seek your support to help these people.
