Farhana Arfin
(Mirpur 12 Slum, Dhaka)
Farhana comes from a small family of three siblings who are all currently in school. Two years ago, her parents went through a divorce, and since then, the full responsibility of the family has fallen on her mother’s shoulders. Farhana’s mother works in a garment factory and is the sole earner, doing her best to provide food, shelter, and education for her children on a very limited income. With her modest salary, it is extremely difficult to manage house rent, daily necessities, and the educational expenses of three children. Despite these challenges, Farhana’s mother is deeply committed to her children’s future. She keeps them under the care of their grandmother so that they can continue their studies in a safe and supportive environment, hoping they will grow up to have a better life than the one she has struggled through. A sponsorship would greatly ease this family’s burden. It would reduce the financial pressure on Farhana’s mother and help ensure that Farhana and her siblings can continue their education with stability and hope for a brighter future.
