Md. Siam Ahmed
(Karail Bowbazar, Dhaka)
Siam’s childhood has been shaped by hardship and uncertainty. His father works long hours in a garment factory, yet his income is very low and barely enough to meet the family’s basic needs. Siam’s mother suffers from issues in her bones along with hormonal complications, which prevent her from working. Her ongoing medical treatment requires regular expenses, placing an even heavier burden on the family. Despite their best efforts, Siam’s parents are unable to fully support the education and daily needs of their children. Because of these struggles, Siam’s elder brother was sent to a madrasa where he now lives, while Siam stays with his grandparents. His grandfather earns a small income by selling tea, and even this modest earning becomes difficult to stretch to cover Siam’s schooling and living costs. Although Siam’s maternal uncles also face financial difficulties, they try their best to help whenever they can. Surrounded by these challenges, Siam’s education is slowly being affected. The constant worry about expenses and instability makes it hard for him to focus on his studies. A sponsorship would lift a great burden from Siam’s young shoulders, allowing him to continue his education with peace of mind and giving his family some much-needed relief and hope for a better future.
