Bithe is the youngest of four siblings and one of the top students in her class. Despite her academic excellence, continuing her education is a daily struggle due to her family’s financial situation. Her father, a hardworking farmer, is the sole provider for their family of six. Farming alone brings in a small and unreliable income, which is often not enough to meet the family’s basic needs. To earn a little extra, he also drives an auto-rickshaw whenever he can. But that, too, only brings in 100 to 300 taka a day which is barely enough to make ends meet. Covering Bithe’s educational expenses, tuition fees, books, and school supplies, has become increasingly difficult for her father.
