Asami Debnath
(Kapasia, Gazipur)
Asami is a brilliant 8th-grade student who stands out for her dedication and strong academic performance. She dreams of continuing her studies and creating a better life for her family. Her father once worked in an office, but a few years ago he moved back to their village to care for their elderly parents. After the passing of Asami’s paternal grandparents, he continued to care for Asami’s maternal grandfather. Now living in the village, Asami’s father works as a day laborer on other people’s land, as the family doesn’t own any land of their own. He grows bananas on a small scale on a leased land. However, the income from banana farming is minimal and inconsistent, adding very little to their overall earnings. Despite all his efforts, his income is barely enough to meet their basic needs. His income is irregular and very limited, barely enough to cover their household expenses. Supporting Asami’s education on such a small income has become increasingly difficult and places a heavy financial burden on the family. It would ease the pressure on Asami’s father and ensure that she can continue her education without interruption. With the right support, Asami has the potential to rise above her circumstances and build a brighter future for herself and for those who have sacrificed so much for her.
