Liza Akter
(Mohakhali Sattala Slum, Dhaka)
Liza is a hardworking and determined seventh-grade student. Out of her three siblings, she is the second. Her older brother was unable to finish school after he suffered from a severe mental illness about eight years ago. Her younger brother, who is only 20 months old, needs round-the-clock care. So, her mother spends most of her time on them. The family's only source of income is Liza's father. He sells pickles on the side of the road for a meager living, barely enough to cover the necessities of the home. In addition to overseeing everyday costs, he also pays for his oldest son's continuous medical care. In spite of these obstacles, he is making every effort to guarantee Liza's further education. Liza is equally dedicated to her studies, hoping to finish her school so she may eventually provide for her family. However, it is becoming more and more difficult for the family to provide for educational costs due to their financial circumstances. A sponsorship would give Liza the crucial financial support she needs and give her a hope to achieve her goal.
