Sanjida Khatun
(Mohakhali Sattala Slum, Dhaka)
Sanjida is a third-grade kid who is eager to study and progress academically. She comes from a family that works hard but struggles financially. Her father has a small street food cart, and her mother helps him with meal preparation. Sadly, their income fluctuates a lot and frequently isn't enough to cover the necessities for the family. Sanjida's father's health sometimes prevents him from working, which further reduces the family's already meager income. Sanjida's older brother, a Grade 10 student, tutors younger children to help pay for his own schooling because their parents cannot afford it. They once had to stop his education and they don't want to repeat this for Sanjida. Unfortunately, the last four months, they have been unable to cover Sanjida's tuition costs. With rising financial difficulties, parents fear they will have to pull her from tuition classes entirely, jeopardizing her academic progress and future chances. A sponsorship would greatly help Sanjida continue her education by covering essential costs such as tuition fees, books, and school supplies.
