Md. Shamiul
(Karail Bowbazar, Dhaka)
Since the sponsorship began, life for Shamiul has gradually become more manageable. The immediate pressure of arranging school expenses has reduced, allowing him to continue his studies without interruptions. In the classroom, he is more settled and attentive, showing steady progress as he no longer carries the constant worry of financial uncertainty. At home, the change is equally meaningful. His parents are now able to focus on their daily struggles and his mother’s health condition with a little less stress about Shamiul’s education. Even though their overall situation remains difficult, the support has created a small but important sense of balance in their lives. Shamiul and his family hold deep gratitude for the sponsor’s support. They view this assistance as a turning point that is helping Shamiul remain in school when many other circumstances could have forced him out. It has renewed their hope and strengthened their determination to keep him on the path of education.
Shamiul is a bright student in grade 5, but his family is facing tough times. His older brother passed the SSC exam last year but couldn’t continue his studies due to financial difficulties. To make ends meet, Shamiul's parents had to send his older brother and sister to live with their grandmother in the village, as the high living costs in Dhaka make it hard to support everyone. Shamiul's father was a gas-stove technician but lost his job six months ago and has struggled to find another job due to his lack of education and skills in other fields. Now, Shamiul’s mother works as a maid to support the family, but she has tonsillitis, and while the doctors have recommended surgery, they can’t afford it. Despite these hardships, Shamiul’s parents are determined that he should not drop out of school like his siblings. However, covering his education costs is becoming increasingly difficult. If Shamiul could receive a sponsorship, he wouldn’t have to worry about his education and could continue his studies without the constant stress of financial strain.
