Samia Akter Asma
(Mohakhali Sattala Slum, Dhaka)
Since receiving the sponsorship, Asma’s school life has taken on a new energy. She no longer has to worry about missing lessons or paying for extra tutoring. Now, she can focus on learning, participate fully in class, and approach each day with curiosity and determination. At home, the difference is clear. Her father, managing diabetes while working as a liftman, and her mother, caring for her younger sister, feel a sense of relief. The support ensures that Asma’s education continues uninterrupted, easing the financial pressure on the family. She and her family are deeply grateful to the sponsor, knowing this support allows her to keep learning, growing, and moving steadily toward a brighter future.
Asma is a determined 6th-grade student who faces financial challenges at home. She has a younger sister who is only two, and her mother stays at home to take care of her, which means she cannot work outside. Asma’s father works as a liftman in an office in Tejgaon but is limited in what he can do due to his diabetes. He requires insulin twice a day, and his small income barely covers the costs of his treatment, as well as the family’s other expenses. Although Asma has been admitted to class 6 this year, her family struggles to afford a private tutor to support her education. Her parents, who are not educated themselves, are unable to assist her with her studies. A sponsorship would greatly ease the financial burden on her family, allowing Asma to receive the educational support she needs to succeed.
