Riya Moni
(Mohakhali Sattala Slum, Dhaka)
The sponsorship has given Riya something she lacked before: consistency. With her school costs taken care of, she no longer faces interruptions in her education or uncertainty about staying enrolled. This sense of security has helped her settle into her routine, attend school more regularly, and engage with her lessons with greater focus and confidence. At home, the impact has been equally meaningful. Her mother, who works long hours to support the family, now feels a sense of relief knowing that Riya’s education is protected despite their limited income. The support has reduced financial stress and allowed the family to prioritize stability during an already challenging time. Riya understands the value of this opportunity and approaches her studies with renewed seriousness and determination. Her family is sincerely thankful to the sponsor for standing beside them when they needed it most. For Riya, this support is not just help for today, but it is a steady foundation for the future she hopes to build through education.
Riya is a 3rd-grade student at Mohakhali Abdul Hamid Dorzy School. She lives with her mother and younger brother, while her father, a street vendor, supports two families after marrying another woman. His earnings are not enough to cover the needs of both families, leaving little for Riya's education. Riya’s mother works hard as a housemaid, but her income isn’t enough to support Riya’s studies either. Despite these challenges, Riya is eager to learn and loves going to school. With some financial help, Riya can continue her education and work toward a brighter future. She hopes for the chance to keep studying and follow her dreams.
