Sumona
(Mohakhali Sattala Slum, Dhaka)
Although things have been difficult for Sumona's family, the sponsorship has greatly improved their situation. Her parents are a little more at ease now that her college costs have been covered. Without the burden of paying for school, they can put more of their attention to raising Sumona and her younger brother. Sumona, on the other hand, is having a great time in the program. Along the process, she's making plenty of new friends and enjoying the activities in addition to keeping up with her schoolwork. It's been a great place for her to grow, learn, and simply be a content child. More than just paying for school expenses, this contribution is giving a family that really needed a helping hand hope and happiness..
Sumona reads in grade 1. Her father drives an auto-rickshaw on rent. His income is very unstable. Moreover, a large part of his income goes to the rickshaw owner. So, they had to depend mostly on Sumona’s mother's income. However, since her brother was born, Sumona’s mother cannot go outside and work. Their whole family is now maintained with the meager income of her father. In this situation, it has become very difficult for them to bear all the expenses. Furthermore, they have the additional expense of Sumona’s brother’s baby food. They are finding it very tough to maintain Sumona’s educational costs along with all the other family expenses and the rent. A sponsorship would help ease their struggles a lot.
