Suma Akter
(Mohakhali Sattala Slum, Dhaka)
After being out of school for two years, Suma finally got the chance to return to the classroom with the help of the sponsorship and she couldn’t be happier. She’s now back on track with her education, chasing her dreams with a renewed sense of hope and determination. Being part of the program has also helped Suma come out of her shell. Once quiet and reserved, she’s now opening up and building friendships with other children. She loves taking part in group activities, and it’s heartwarming to see her smile and laugh alongside her new friends. The support has brought a big relief to her mother, who no longer has to carry the full weight of Suma’s education expenses on her own. Now she can focus more on taking care of Suma’s grandmother. Both Suma and her mother are deeply appreciative and grateful to the sponsor. They know how much this opportunity means and don’t take a single moment of it for granted. Their hearts are full of thanks for the kindness that is helping Suma rebuild her future.
When Suma was only six years old, her father passed away. They live with her grandmother. Her mother works in an ice cream factory. She has studied up to class five. But after the pandemic due to financial difficulties her studies came to a halt. It's been two years since then. If she gets help she can chase her dream again.
