Sanjida Akter
(Mohakhali Sattala Slum, Dhaka)
Sanjida's world has opened up in a lot of amazing ways because of the sponsorship. She was free to go back to school without any concerns because her past-due school fees had been paid. However, the assistance not only allowed her to continue her education but also aided in her personal development. She continued to excel in her studies, acquired new friends, and found fascinating new interests. The future that seemed uncertain now seems full of possibilities. With her education and the support she's gotten, Sanjida is more certain than ever that she can fulfill all of her mother's dreams for her. The sponsor is much appreciated by Sanjida and her mother for providing her with this transformative opportunity.
Sanjida's father died when she was a little girl. Since then her mother worked very hard to maintain the family with two little children. She had to work at multiple houses as a maid just to have food on their plates and a roof over their heads. Even with all these struggles, Sanjida's mother wanted her children to be educated enough to get a proper job, so they don't suffer as she did after her husband died. However, the pandemic has worsened their situation even further. Sanjida's mother lost all her jobs during the lockdowns. She couldn't pay the house rent or the school fees of her children. Though she got a job now, it is not enough to maintain the family and pay all the due rent and school fees. She informed us that Sanjida was very upset when she heard that she might not go to school again. Sanjida is a quiet girl at home but when she's at school, she can actually express her joyful nature. She loves to learn new things. Her school was the only place where she could do that. If she gets a sponsorship, it will help a lot to keep her in school and it will ease her mother's struggles as well.
