Liza
(Mohakhali Sattala Slum, Dhaka)
The sponsorship opened doors for Liza that she had never imagined. She was enrolled in extra tuition classes to help her catch up on the lessons she had missed during the school closure. With financial assistance, her parents could also buy the proper textbooks and materials she needed for her studies. The weight of economic uncertainty was lifted from their shoulders, and Liza could focus entirely on her studies. The sponsorship had ensured that Liza could continue her education and unlocked a future full of possibilities. She is very grateful to her sponsor for the support. Not only that, she is growing up to be a good person. She loves spending time with our other sponsored kids and doing the activity programs. We are very happy to see her enjoying her time here with us.
Liza is a very responsible young girl. She looks after her younger siblings when her parents are at work. She is very passionate about learning new things and teaching what she learned to others. Whenever she learns something new, she tries to teach that to her friends and her siblings. She has a great potential to become a great teacher. However, she is confined by her circumstances. When her school was closed down for the pandemic, she thought it was a temporary impediment. But now it might be permanent for her, as her parents can't afford to pay her school fees. The school didn't allow her to attend the final examinations, because her parents could not clear all the due fees. Liza's father sells "Chola-boot" (a Bangladeshi street snack) and her mother works as a maid. For them, it is not possible to bear her education costs after maintaining a family of 7. Her mother informed us that if they can't pay the fees, the school won't allow her to get admitted for the next year as well. A sponsorship would really help Liza to continue her studies and her desire to learn.
