Khukumoni
(Mirpur 12 Slum, Dhaka)
Khukumoni and her family’s circumstances have greatly improved since they received the sponsorship. The support has eased some of the financial pressure they were under, especially when it came to buying books and getting the extra help she needed with her studies. Thanks to the sponsorship, Khukumoni now has access to the resources she was missing before, which has made a huge difference in her education. She can focus more on her learning and has the support she needs to thrive. Her family is incredibly thankful for the sponsorship. It’s taken a big burden off their shoulders, and they’re relieved that Khukumoni can continue her education and work toward a brighter future.
Khukumoni is the eldest of her four siblings. Her father is a van driver. His income is very low and not stable. It is not easy for them to bear all the expenses with such an unstable income, as they have some fixed expenses like house rent and food costs. Most of the time they have to take loans from their neighbors. They still have a lot of debt. Even in their tough situation, Khukumoni’s parents are able to send her to school because they don’t have to pay the fees at the primary level. However, they are facing difficulties in providing her with extra books or a tutor who could help her with her studies. They are working really hard to provide her with education as long as they can afford it so that she does not have to struggle in the future. Khukumoni is very attentive to her studies. As the eldest child, she has to help her parents a lot. Yet, she finds time for her studies. But the lack of books and someone who can help her in her studies is making it hard for her. If she could get a sponsorship, she would be able to get all the help she needs.
