Sultana Akhter Mim
(Mirpur 12 Slum, Dhaka)
Since Sultana received the sponsorship, things have definitely improved for her and her family. The support has eased some of the financial strain, helping cover her education expenses and allowing her family to focus on other priorities. Sultana’s parents are so grateful, especially given the added challenges they’ve been facing with her mom working far away and her dad managing the shop. The sponsorship has really made a difference, and it’s allowed Sultana to have one less worry on her plate. Sultana is also really enjoying being part of the program. She’s made some new friends and loves being around other kids her age, which has been a wonderful way for her to stay happy and engaged despite everything going on. Her family can’t thank the sponsor enough for making sure Sultana has the chance to stay in school and build a brighter future.
Sultana is a quiet little girl. Even at the age of 6, she's very responsible toward her younger brother. She tries not to bother her grandmother who takes care of both of them since her mother had to go to Saudi Arabia looking for a living. Sultana's mother works as a maid there and her father runs a grocery shop here in their neighborhood. Their income isn't sufficient to cover all the expenses. Even now they are struggling to support the family. This is really hard for Sultana, especially because she really misses her mother. Nonetheless, she has accepted this, as they had no other choice but to ease their struggles. If she could get a sponsorship, it would help them a lot to manage the rest of the expenses.
