Fatema Akter Monira
(Mohakhali Sattala Slum, Dhaka)
After Fatema received the sponsorship, her life took a positive turn, bringing immense relief and happiness to her family. With the help of the sponsorship, she was able to attend regular tuition classes, which gave her a clearer understanding of her lessons. She also received proper textbooks and study materials, which helped her focus on her studies. Fatema’s determination and independence grew even stronger, and her grades improved with the support she was getting. Her parents, who had been worried about their ability to afford her education, were deeply thankful. They could finally see their daughter’s potential being nurtured without the worry of financial constraints. Fatema’s family is forever grateful to the sponsor for allowing her to pursue her dreams. This support didn’t just help her education—it also brought peace of mind to her family, knowing that Fatema’s future was no longer at risk.
When we went for home visits, a little girl came running to greet us. That girl was Fatema. Her sweet and energetic nature quickly wins everyone's hearts. She is very independent as well. At an early age, she learned how to look after herself because both her parents stay away from home all day. When her mother comes home after a long day, Fatema doesn't want to bother her. So, she tries to complete small household works and completes her homework all by herself before her parents get home. During the pandemic, Fatema's parents both had difficulties at work. Even though now things are getting well, they are finding it difficult to overcome the gaps in their income and expenses created during that time. They cannot even provide a tutor for Fatema who can help her with her studies. However, it did not stop Fatema from learning. She takes help from older kids. Seeing her hard work and passion to learn, her parents want her to continue her studies. But they are afraid that they might not be able to support her in the long run. A sponsorship would really help them to keep Fatema's enthusiasm to learn alive.
