Fatema Akter Monira
(Mohakhali Sattala Slum, Dhaka)
Fatema's life changed for the better after she was sponsored, and her family experienced a great deal of comfort and joy. She was able to attend regular tuition classes with the sponsorship, which helped her comprehend her lessons better. Additionally, she was given appropriate study guides and textbooks, which improved her ability to concentrate in class. With the help she was receiving, Fatema's independence and resolve only increased, and her grades rose as well. Her parents are extremely grateful, as they had been concerned about how they would pay for her schooling. Finally, they can watch their daughter's potential being developed without having to worry about money. Fatema's family will always be appreciative of the sponsor for enabling her to follow her aspirations. Not only did this support aid in her education, but it also gave her family comfort in knowing that Fatema's future was secure.
When we went for home visits, a little girl came running to greet us. That girl was Fatema. Her sweet and energetic nature quickly wins everyone's hearts. She is very independent as well. At an early age, she learned how to look after herself because both her parents stay away from home all day. When her mother comes home after a long day, Fatema doesn't want to bother her. So, she tries to complete small household works and completes her homework all by herself before her parents get home. During the pandemic, Fatema's parents both had difficulties at work. Even though now things are getting well, they are finding it difficult to overcome the gaps in their income and expenses created during that time. They cannot even provide a tutor for Fatema who can help her with her studies. However, it did not stop Fatema from learning. She takes help from older kids. Seeing her hard work and passion to learn, her parents want her to continue her studies. But they are afraid that they might not be able to support her in the long run. A sponsorship would really help them to keep Fatema's enthusiasm to learn alive.
