Nusrat Jahan Mim
(Mohakhali Sattala Slum, Dhaka)
After Nusrat received the sponsorship, things started to change for the better. She was able to attend regular tuition classes, which helped her catch up in subjects she had struggled with before due to a lack of resources. With proper textbooks and study materials, her natural curiosity really started to blossom, and she became even better at her schoolwork. Her family, especially her parents, couldn’t be more thankful. They were finally able to see their daughter chase her dreams without the heavy burden of financial stress. Nusrat’s mother’s health also improved a little, and with the new stability, the whole family felt a sense of calm and hope for the future. Nusrat’s future now looks brighter, and her family can’t thank the sponsor enough for the opportunity. The support they received didn’t just help with her education—it gave them all the hope and comfort they needed to believe in a better life.
Nusrat is a cheerful young girl. She lights up everyone's mood around her with her joyful nature. She is very good at school. Her teachers often find it difficult to keep up with her curious mind. Along with her cheerful nature, there's a caring side to her. Even at her young age, she takes care of her grandfather, who lives with them, and her younger brother. Most of her afternoons are spent playing with her 2-year-old brother. Her father is a garment worker. With his limited income, it is very difficult for him to maintain a big family of 7. Moreover, recently Nusrat's mother was diagnosed with a heart condition. After paying for her mother's treatments and maintaining the family, Nusrat's father can barely pay for her education expenses. When we spoke to her mother she informed us that they're having a really hard time and may not be able to continue Nusrat's education if things went on like this. This is really unfortunate for a girl like Nusrat to not be able to achieve her full potentials. A sponsorship would really help them to keep Nusrat in school and help her to do something better in the future.
